Entering the city of Venice means entering another world - a world full of illusions and hidden stories, a projection screen for desires and dreams. Crossing the Ponte della Libertà feels like a passage into the unreal: a gentle transition from everyday life into a stage set for escaping reality.
The city is full of surprises — hidden pockets of space that spark the imagination, fractal and ornamental façades that captivate the eye, and layers of history you breathe in with every step. Around every corner, you are rewarded with unexpected discoveries, while your expectations and sense of orientation are constantly being challenged. All of it fuels the human urge for exploration.
Cinema Venezia takes the viewer on a cinematic journey, inviting to observe the visible and contemplate the invisible: to ponder about the fragments of life obscured by the window curtain, a half-open door, or by the ray of light luring from around the corner. What kind of life unfolds behind that window? Where is the person going, rushing left into the alley?
At the same time, the project observes how the city is consumed by its countless visitors — travelers who, like cinema-goers, immerse themselves in a world of illusion. As viewers of these photographs, we partake in their experience. The images invite us to shift our perspective, to see space through the eyes of the perceiver. We can only imagine what they see, feel, and what impressions were formed in the precise moment – but like any great film, Venice has the power to transform, unquestionably leaving you with long-lasting memories and emotional souvenirs you carry home.
